Craft: Valentine's Day Card

Who doesn't love Valentine's Day?  Ok ok... maybe if you are single and loveless it can be a pesky reminder of your perceived lack thereof, but when it comes to children, Valentine's Day is exciting, fun, and joyful!

Every holiday/season, big or small, Lil Rap and I make homemade cards to send to his grandparents, aunts & uncles, and cousins.  It's a fun and playful activity that takes up a lot of time (yay for not being bored!) and puts a smile on faces all over the world.

Here is a photo of today's product of imagination:

How to Create
Supplies: Construction Paper, Markers, Pencil, Stickers, Paper Cutter, Scissors, Glue Stick

1. Use Paper Cutter (or scissors) to cut Construction Paper in half.
2. Have child color on one half of that paper
3. Fold colored paper in half and trace hand with pencil along folded edge with thumbs and first fingers touching the edge. (Pic Below)
4. Cut hand out, careful not to cut the edge where the thumbs and first fingers meet.
5. Using glue stick, glue hand to other half of construction paper.  It works best if you have a couple of alternate colors so that the hands are clearly visible.  Such as pink hands on red paper or red hands on pink paper.
8. Write Happy Valentine's Day across top of card with markers.
7.  Have child place stickers all over the card and sign their name
8.  Mail to friends and family or hang on your fridge!

Example of how to trace hand along folded edge for step # 3.  Shout out to Lil' Rap for posing in pic!
